Check the File Yourself (SHA-256)

Fake “GB WhatsApp” builds are the most common malware trick in this niche, so don't take any site's word — including ours. Verify the file instead:

Compute the fingerprint. On Android, any free hash-checker app can read the APK's SHA-256. On a computer: certutil -hashfile GBWhatsApp.apk SHA256 on Windows, or shasum -a 256 GBWhatsApp.apk on macOS/Linux.
Compare it. Match the fingerprint against the one published for v18.80 by the release channel you follow. Even a single different character means the file was altered — delete it.
Get a second opinion. Upload the APK to a multi-engine scanner such as VirusTotal before installing. Note that Play Protect may warn about even the genuine mod — it isn't a Play Store app — but detections by multiple antivirus engines are a hard stop.

Two more quick checks: the file should be roughly 72 MB (a “v18.80” that is 3 MB or 300 MB is not v18.80), and it should arrive as an .apk file — never an .exe, a “downloader”, or a paid “activation”.

Know the Risks Before You Tap Install

GB WhatsApp is a third-party mod that violates WhatsApp's Terms of Service — it is not affiliated with WhatsApp LLC or Meta.
Your number can be banned: usually temporary at first (24 hours to about 30 days), permanent after repeat violations. The anti-ban layer reduces risk; it does not remove it. Prefer a secondary number.
The APK is not vetted by Google Play, and its encryption claims can't be independently audited. Keep sensitive conversations on the official app.
Google Drive restore doesn't work on mod builds — use the built-in local backup (GB Settings → Chats → Backup).

Install It in Four Steps

Open Android Settings → Security (or Apps → Special access) and allow Install unknown apps for the browser you downloaded with.
Tap the downloaded APK and choose Install. A Play Protect prompt is expected for non-Play apps.
Open GB WhatsApp, accept the terms and verify your phone number by SMS code.
If you migrated from another build, restore the local backup you made beforehand when the app offers it.
